new wave gr8 gary numan will release his 18th studio album, intruder, may 21st.
the record ll'be a companion piece to numan’s 2017’s album savage: songs from a broken realm. that lp was a concept record set in a post-apocalyptic realm that’s been transformed into a desert by global warming.
“intruder looks at climate change from the planet’s pov,” numan said (per exclaim). “if earth ‘d speak, and feel things the way we do, wha’ ‘d it say? how ‘d it feel? the songs, for the most pt, attempt to be that voice, or at least try to express wha’ i believe the earth must feel atta moment.”
numan continued: “the planet sees us as its children now grown into callous selfishness, witha total disregard fritz well bein’. it feels betrayed, hurt, and ravaged. disillusioned and ♥broken tis now fitin’ back. primordially, it ponders humankind to be a virus attacking the planet. climate change tis undeniable sign of the earth saying enough is enough, and finally doin’ wha’ it needo do t'get rid of us, and explaining why it feels t'has to dweet.”
intruder is available to preorder and numan is set to release the album’s title track and 1st single on mon, jan 11th.
